December #4 - ZOMBIE QUEEN OF NEWBURY HIGH

Title: ZOMBIE QUEEN OF NEWBURY HIGH

Author: Amanda Ashby

Publisher: Penguin Group

Copyright: 2009

ISBN: 978-0-14-241256-5

Audience: Young Adult

Setting: Newbury - "Twilight Zone" - California

1st Sentence:
Mia Everett was doomed.

Why I chose this book: I laughed when I read that the main character casts a spell that turns her entire Senior class into zombies just before Prom, because it sounds like something I might have done in high school. I HAD to read it.

Why I read it to the end: I read it in a few hours of one afternoon during my Christmas break from work. I know some authors take offense to people reading their books so quickly when it takes them so long to complete them. And in a sense I understand this. But I argue that it's a testament to the work that they've done. I've read books that have taken me weeeeeeeks to finish, because I was bored and could put it down easily - and take a long time to come back to it, too. If a book grabs me and I read it in one sitting, I think that's a good thing, despite what I read from authors.

My rating: 3.75/5
