Why I chose this book: Laura Lippman is the successful author of the Tess Monaghan series (I read one and didn't care to read others) but it's her stand-alones that I prefer.
Why I read it to the end: Lippman is a skillful writer and she crafts a story that in nearly impossible for me to put down.
